1. Getting ranked

Why does Doomrank need Screen Time or Usage Access?

Doomrank ranks you by your daily screen time, so it needs permission to read it: Screen Time access on iPhone, or Usage Access on Android. Only one number leaves your phone for each finished day: that day's total. Doomrank never uploads which apps you used. You can skip this step, but you won't get a rank.

When will I be ranked?

Usually the next day. Only finished days are ranked, and today's number never leaves your phone. A finished day is uploaded after 1:00 a.m. your local time. On iPhone, this happens when you open the app. If your phone already has a record of earlier days, Doomrank can upload up to 7 of them, so you may appear sooner.

How is my score worked out?

Your score is your average daily screen time over the board's period: yesterday, the last 7 days, this month or this year. Each day's total is rounded down to the nearest 15 minutes before it is uploaded. Once a day's total is uploaded, it cannot be changed. On every board, rank 1 has the most screen time. Higher on the board means more cooked: HIGHER = COOKED.

Why does my row say "provisional"?

Each period needs a minimum number of days for a full average: 3 days for Last 7 days, and 7 days for Month and Year. Until you have that many finished days in the period, the missing days count as zero and your row is marked provisional.

I didn't open the app for a while. Are my days lost?

Doomrank can catch up on the last 7 finished days. Days older than that cannot be added. On iPhone, days are uploaded when you open the app, so open it at least once a week.

Why don't I have a Local board?

Your Local board is for your country. If Doomrank cannot work out your country from your phone, you won't have a Local board. See where your country comes from.

2. What other people see

Can other people see my screen time?

No. People see your rank, not your minutes. On the boards, other people see your rank, your username, your country flag and your generated avatar. Your minutes and your charts are shown only to you, and your tier is never shown to anyone else.

Who can see me on the boards?

  • Global: everyone on Doomrank.
  • Local: people in the same country as you.
  • Friends: people who follow you, once you accept their request.
  • Age group: if you're 18 or older and add your birth year, people viewing your age group's board.

Each board shows the top 100 and the people ranked around the person viewing it.

Who can see my birth year?

No one else. Your birth year is optional, and only the year is stored. Age-group boards are for people 18 and over. If you're 18 or older and add it, you appear on your age group's board, so anyone viewing that board can tell which age group you are in. If you're under 18, you don't appear on any age-group board. You can add or remove it in Settings > Account > Birth Year.

Where does my country come from? Can I change it?

Doomrank reads your country from your phone each time you open the app. On iPhone, it uses your Region setting (Settings > General > Language & Region). On Android, it uses your SIM card's country first, then your mobile network, then your phone's language and region settings. You cannot change it in the app.

Can people see my profile photo?

No. A photo you add stays on your phone and is never uploaded. Everyone else sees your generated avatar. You can generate a new avatar on the Profile tab.

3. iPhone and Android

What's different between iPhone and Android?

  • Permission: iPhone uses Screen Time access. Android uses Usage Access.
  • Uploads: iPhone uploads finished days when you open Doomrank. Android uploads them in the background about once a day, even when the app is closed, when you have an internet connection.
  • Country: iPhone uses your Region setting. Android uses your SIM card, then your mobile network, then your phone's language and region settings.

On both, Doomrank can catch up on the last 7 finished days, and today's number stays on your phone.

How do I turn off screen-time access?

On iPhone, turn it off in your phone's Screen Time settings. On Android, turn it off in your phone's Usage Access settings, often found under Settings > Apps > Special app access. After that, no new days are uploaded.

4. Friends

How do I add friends?

Open the Friends tab and tap the add-person button next to Friends. From there you can share your friend code (Copy or Share), or type a friend's code and tap Follow. Your friend gets a follow request. Once they accept, they appear on your Friends board. Adding friends is free.

How do follow requests work?

Following goes one way. When you follow someone, they see your request under Requests on their Friends screen and can accept or decline. Your Friends board shows you and the people you follow who accepted. To be on each other's Friends boards, you both follow and both accept.

Can I find friends from my contacts?

Yes. On the Friends screen, tap Find friends from contacts. You verify your phone number once by text message. The app reads only the phone numbers in your contacts, turns each one into a code on your phone, and sends only those codes. Matches appear under In your contacts. Using this also lets people who have your number, and have verified their own, find your username and avatar.

How do I unfollow someone or remove a follower?

On the Friends screen, tap Unfollow next to someone you follow, or Remove next to a follower.

Are there limits?

Yes, to prevent spam. You can follow up to 30 people per hour and up to 500 people in total.

5. Reporting and blocking

How do I report or block someone?

Tap the (more) button next to their name, or press and hold their row on a board. Choose Block or Report. For a report, pick a reason: Offensive username, Impersonation, Spam or bot, or Harassment.

What happens after I report someone?

Your report is private. The person is not told who reported them. We review reports promptly and may reset a username, remove an account from the boards, or delete the account. Reporting the same account again does not add a new report. You can send up to 10 reports per hour.

What does blocking do?

Blocking works straight away and applies across the app. It removes any follow between you in both directions and stops either of you from following the other. You stop seeing them on your boards and lists. They are not told. They can still see your rank and username on public boards, such as Global and Local. You can block up to 500 accounts.

How do I unblock someone?

Go to the Profile tab, tap the gear icon, then Settings > Safety > Blocked Users. Unblocking does not bring back follows that were removed.

6. Doomrank Pro and subscriptions

What does Doomrank Pro add?

Doomrank Pro is an optional paid upgrade, and it may not be available in every version of the app yet. Where it is available, it adds two things: stepping back through earlier days, weeks, months and years on the boards, and the My age filter on the Global board. The Global, Local and Friends boards, adding friends and your own stats are free.

How much does it cost?

Where Doomrank Pro is available, the price, and any free trial, is shown in the app before you buy. It comes from the App Store or Google Play.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

If you subscribe to Doomrank Pro, the subscription is billed and managed by Apple or Google, not by Doomrank. It renews automatically unless you cancel before the end of the current period (on the App Store, at least 24 hours before).

  • iPhone: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
  • Android: open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.

Deleting the app or your Doomrank account does not cancel a subscription. If a lifetime purchase is offered, it is a one-time payment and does not renew.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. Ask Apple or Google Play for a refund for purchases made through them.

I bought Pro, but it's missing on my new phone.

Sign in to the same App Store or Google Play account you bought with. Then tap a Pro feature to open the Doomrank Pro screen (called COOKED PRO in some versions), and tap Restore purchase.

7. Your account

Is Doomrank the same as Cooked?

Yes. Doomrank was called Cooked. Some versions of the app still show the old name. Your account and data are the same.

How do I keep my account on a new phone?

On the Profile tab, link Sign in with Apple or Google ("Save your progress across devices"). Then sign in the same way on your new phone. A phone number you verified for Find friends from contacts does not move your account.

How do I change my username?

On the Profile tab, use the edit button next to your username, or the button that picks a new random one. Usernames can be up to 24 characters long. Offensive usernames are not allowed. See our Terms.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to the Profile tab, tap the gear icon, then Settings > Account > Delete Account, and confirm. Without the app, email support@doomrank.app. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Delete your account explains every step and what happens to your data.

Where can I read how my data is used?

In our Privacy Policy.
